Msimangu is saying that he doesn't like the thought of segregation and doesn't agree with it but maybe it is better for the people of the towns.

I'm not entirely sure what this quote is saying, but my guess would be that he is stating that he is personally against segregation but he can't help but to support it because it is, in many cases, good for the town because it minimizes violence?

Msimangu doesn't like the sgregation but feels that at this point in time, it may be best for everybody in the town.

Msimangu knows that segregation is morally wrong, and shouldn't occur in society. However, he believes that in South Africa, segregation may be better for both races because it would relieve the racial tensions created by the races attempting to co-exist.

Msimangu is saying that he does not like segreation and he knows that it is wrong, but he still supports his race, and culture.

Msimangi thinks that segregation is bad, but in south africa it could be good because it relieves the tensions.

He is sayong that although segregation is wrong, society is treating the poor black people so bad thatit would probably be better if they were not exposed to the harmful people.

Msimangu is saying that he does not like people being segregated by race, because it unfair to the lower of the classes. But on the the other hand he feels that this way there is not issues and tention between blacks and whites if they stay seperated from eachother. He feels that segregation is both good and bad at the same time.

Misimangu doesn't like segregation but if they were apart from the white race they wouldn't have the problems that they are having.

he hates segregation but still has his beliefs and morals through it

He doesn't believe in segregation. but thinks that segregation would better because everyone would be kept apart and therefore less conflicts with different cultures and races

AAAAAARON!!!!! says....
Msimangu is basically saying he does not like segregation but he also believes its probably the best, for the towns sake, to be seperate in race, culture, religion etc.

Anonymous said...

He is saying that he does not want to be seperated for the wrong reasons, but he also thinks that there are reasons that they should be seperated.

Segregation may need to be around in these towns and villages to make things work for everybody.

this statement implies that segregation may do good in that seperation prevents conflict

A.Lohr-Msimangi doesnt like segregation at all, but for the safety of the people and for there best interest that segregation is probably the best thing.

Anonymous said...

msimangu is saying that segregation is really bad but he also thinks its better for the people

Semi Says.....Msimangu is stating that he disagrees with segregation but that it maybe good for people in the towns

Ylrac said...

Msimangu does not like the feeling of being seperated and treated differently because of what race you are, but he thinks that its better so there won't be conflict between the races like we're seeing now since Absalom shot the white man Arthur.

Msimangu is saying he dosen't like segregation but it would be better if they did because there would be less fighting and vilonce.

Msimangu is saying that he doesnt believe that segregation is right but that when the Africans go to Johannesburg they become corrupt and lose their morals. He thinks it would be better for all if they went back to segregating the races.

Everyone basically said the same thing about this quote...that segregation is not right but may be best for the town at this time.

neemesh said...

msimangu is saying that segregation in itself is bad, but it would be good in johannesberg to keep the races seperate to avoid the useless violence and "native crime"

i agree with kelly in that i think Msimangu knows segregation is morally and dose not support it.

Anonymous said...

I agree with carly, Msimangu may not like segregation but he belives that it is best for everyone. This way whites and blacks are seperated and will not have even less opportunities than they already do.

Anonymous said...

This qoute shoes that Msimangu does not like the idea of segregation but he feels that it could be better in some places if the races were separated.

neemesh said...

i actually disagree with dcarr, i dont think he hates white people, especially since he himself associates with the young man from the reformatory, its just that he believes that if they didnt try to integrate, all the violence could be avoided, but dcarr still makes good points

Anonymous said...

Semi Says.... I agree with every that is saying he hates segreration but might be nesseacary

Jonny said...

Msimangu is saying that even though he doesnt like the idea of segregation, he feels that the diferent races in Johanessbsurg should be. He must feel that if segregation were to occur that all of the "native crimes" will settle down and hopefully come to an end.

Jonny said...

I agree with Neemesh's comment and support it fully. He obviously understands Msimangu's comment completely.

Anonymous said...

i agree with david, the segration does prevent conflict.

Anonymous said...

This quote means that even though segregation isn't necessarily a good thing, though sometimes it is for the best in order to rid the towns of unneeded strife and hostility.

Anonymous said...

I have to say that both Neemesh and dcar make very good points, though Nemeesh's idea makes more sense with the character whom we are discussing.

Anonymous said...

This quote shows that Msimangu doesnt think that segregation is a good idea but if it means a lower rate in crime and more freedoms and rights maybe its better if they were segregates and could thrive together instead of using segregation as a way to put each other down tey could use it as a way to coincide peacefully but sperately.

He's talking about how priests are not segregated like everything else. Even though other things are segregated there is some peace and toleration of eachother.

Msimangu sees that in attempting to integrate South Africa, they are only creating an even more divided society. Segregation would allow the races to live apart from one another and create their own seperate societies. But, by forcing the races together even thought they are still unequal, they create racial tensions that are even worse than those that would exist in a segregated society.

airam said...

i agree with kelly that msimangu knows segration is morally wrong and does not support it but he thinks that it is best for everyone.

Val said...

Msimangu is expressing that he doesn't like the general idea of segregation and that he knows its wrong, but believes segregation may be the solution in South Africa because of the deep racial tension between to the two races in this area.

Val said...

Basically at this time in South Africa, each race thought that they should be the only existing one. Msimangu's thinking here was something along the lines of; Why should we try and put these people who don't think each other should exist together and cause more conflict?
